Adamawa state government has donated relief materials to flood victims of Demsa and Numan local government areas
The materials were presented to the communities by the state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, who stated, “As government we are doing everything possible to bring succour to the victims.
“I call on authorities concerned to ensure judicious use of the relief materials available at the moment so that no one would be left behind.
“We are calling on residents living along the river banks and water prone areas to vacate to higher ground so as to prevent deaths and other disasters associated with floods.
“The relief materials is an emergency one, from Rt Hon Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of the state to cushion the suffering of the flood victims.”
Farauta called on the people of the areas to adopt the habit of boiling water for drinking to avert waterborne diseases
In their separate remarks, Commissioners for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Neido Geoffrey, that of Environment, Mohammed Sadiq Mohammed and Commissioner for Reconstruction Rehabilitation Reintegration & Human Service
Barr. Bello Hamman Diram, hailed Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his quick intervention to ameliorate the sufferings of the flood victims in the state
The Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Mrs Heline Kwamoti Laori said 19 communities in Madagali, Demsa and Numan was affected the flood.
Laori, urged for the judicious use of the item warned beneficiaries against misuse or selling it.
She listed items donated to includes blanket, rice, vegetables, medical and hygiene among others.##
