Malam Jamilu Yusuf Offers Brotherly Advice to Abdurahman Bashir Haske on Political Future

In a deeply reflective open letter, Malam Jamilu Yusuf has urged his brother, Abdurahman Bashir Haske, to exercise caution and avoid being exploited by self-serving political actors as the country moves closer to future electoral cycles.

Writing out of what he described as “genuine concern, brotherhood, and experience,” Jamilu cautioned Haske against allowing “political entrepreneurs” individuals who jump from platform to platform for personal gain to manipulate his goodwill, resources, and influence for their own survival.

Jamilu emphasized that while political engagement is important, it represents only a fraction of a leader’s broader life and legacy. He advised Haske to prioritize his reputation, family, business, and long-term vision over temporary alliances and political excitement beyond 2027.

“Do not make the mistake of allowing anyone to drag you into another political platform simply because they want to continue benefiting from your name,” the letter reads. “Listen to advice, but remain focused. Listen to everyone, but make your decisions based on your own convictions and the bigger picture of your life.”

Drawing from past observations in the political arena, Jamilu warned of the recurring trend where individuals are used for specific political seasons and subsequently abandoned once their usefulness is exhausted. He stressed the importance of having the courage to say “no” to bad deals without burning bridges or resorting to conflict.

Highlighting that “politics is a marathon, not a sprint,” He encouraged Haske to stay calm, maintain his dignity, and thoughtfully evaluate the long-term impact of his choices over the next five to twenty years.

He concluded the open letter with prayers for guidance and wisdom, reminding Haske that his ultimate destiny and legacy transcend the narrow interests of political opportunists.
