In a major move to fortify security and protect lives and property across the council area, the Executive Chairman of Shelleng Local Government Area, Hon. Abubakar Isa Maijama’a (Marafan Shelleng), today, Saturday, September 19, 2026, conducted an operational inspection of newly established military checkpoints at the strategic Kiri Junction.

The security boost comes on the heels of key resolutions adopted during the local government’s recent Security Council Meeting, where the council prioritized sealing off vulnerable transit corridors against criminal infiltration. Acting swiftly on those resolutions, Hon. Maijama’a formally requested and secured the deployment of a military platoon to bolster security operations in the area.

During his on-the-spot assessment at Kiri Junction, the Executive Chairman evaluated the operational readiness of the deployed personnel and inspected the defensive layout of the location.

Kiri Junction serves as a vital gateway into Shelleng, making its security pivotal to the overall stability of the local government.

The deployment of the military platoon is expected to serve as a formidable deterrent against criminal activities, curbing banditry, armed robbery, and cross-boundary lawlessness.

“Security of lives and properties is non-negotiable—it stands as Agenda Number One of our administration’s 11-Point Priority Agenda,” Hon. Maijama’a stated during the visit.”

He reiterated his administration’s unyielding commitment to eliminating security threats and creating a safe environment where every citizen can go about their daily farming, trading, and socioeconomic pursuits without fear, harassment, or molestation.

Local residents and community leaders have widely praised the arrival of the military unit, describing it as a proactive measure that will restore public confidence and stimulate local economic activities across Shelleng LGA.
