Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State on Wednesday appealed to citizens, friends and associates to avoid lavish ceremonies as his birthday comes up this Friday, October 27.
The Governor has asked instead for prayers for Adamawa and the nation, as the people urgently need what he calls fiscal space so they can cope with the enormous economic demands unleashed by the removal of fuel subsidy.
“The solution to today’s new and complex challenges requires the strengthening and revitalization of an inclusive governance and policy direction which we are determined to pursue until every community is touched and nobody is left behind,” Fintiri said, according to a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wunosikou
“I am not disposed to celebrating while challenges stare the people in the face. I am a Governor who has human feelings and will not leave anything to chance until all Adamawa citizens are comfortable,” Fintiri added.
The governor has accordingly directed that prayers be said in Mosques on Friday October 27 and in churches on Sunday, October 29, amid the challenges of fuel subsidy removal.
