Adamawa state government in collaboration with Global Partner for Education (GPE), a world bank assisted program has disbursed N296 million grant as intervention for expansion of eight primary schools in Adamawa state.
The cost of 15 other schools selected for rehabilitation under same program, would be determined upon inspection of deplorable nature of the benefiting schools.
Performing the flag-off in Yola, Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta said government took upon itself free payment of NECO and WAEC fees to ensure students are educated.
She charged School Based Management Committees (SBMCs) to ensure ownership of the project as well as judicious utilization of the funds.
Speaking for the national coordinator, represented by the State project coordinator GPE-TESS Michael Chinda Medugu said the project is aimed at revamping the education sector.
Dr Umar Garba, Commissioner for Education said it is in the wisdom of the world bank that scientific methods were applied in the selection process which sets aside procurement process and is tax free.
Chairman state SBMC, Galadima Isa, who spoke on behalf of the benefiting schools promised quality job. .
Madagali, Lamurde Jada, Shelleng, Song, Toungo and Yola-South benefit in the expansion category.
In the rehabilitation category, Ganye Girei, Madagali, Mayo-Belwa Michika, Demsa, Gombi, Jada, Song, Yola South, Numan, Lamurde, Maiha, Guyuk and Fufore were selected.
