Governor Ahmadu Fintiri says the implementation of Adamawa state Teachers Recruitment, Deployment and Retention policy is to revamp the teacher education structure and create a system aligned with
21-centuary education goals.
Speaking at the 15th Combined Convocation Ceremony of Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola over the weekend, the governor said government has recorded giant strides in ICT training by developing students friendly programs that equip youths with essential skills for success in technology driven economy.
The governor, represented by his Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, noted that
the State Mass Education Board, State Universal Basic Education Board and Post Primary Schools Management Board, have been allocated significant funds within the Ministry of Education, in line with the free education policy of the state.
“This administration has improved access to quality education by enhancing investment in schools, strengthening the scholarship programs, providing teachers training and ensuring that young people in the state receive education and skills needed to thrive globally,” the governor said, adding that government remains steadfast in implementing education policies and meeting UNESCO’s target of of 26 per cent of annual budget to education.
Earlier, the FCE Provost, Mohammed Degereji said 15,139 students have been graduated from 2011 to 2023
Degereji appealed to the federal government for upgrading of the institution to University of Education, being the oldest FCE in the North East.
He appreciated TETFUND, NEDC and NCCE for interventions and regulatory guide to run NCE and degree programs concurrently.
In his address, Minister of Education, represented by
Dr Yusuf Saeed Director Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement, federal ministry of education said the proposed allocation of 30 per cent of TETFUND ‘s funds from the federation account for student loans, would be vigorously persued to alleviate the financial burdens faced by families and students alike
“The allocation when approved by the National Assembly has the potential to alleviate the financial burdens faced by families and students alike”.
“Under present administration, we have seen the highest allocation to the education, amounting to N1.54 trillion representing 6.54 of the national budget.
Government is dedicated to the full implementation of the allocation this year,” he said.
Joshua Adewale David, who read out validictory message on behalf of the graduands said they were united by a common goal to learn to excel to contribute to the world.
Mr Adamu Mohammed from Chemistry and Computer science department received best graduating student award with CGPA 4.89 point.
