The member of the House of Representatives from Maiha, Mubi North, Mubi South federal constituency, Hon Ja’afaru Abubakar Magaji has appreciated the federal government for keeping faith with the establishment of the federal medical centres in Mubi and in Hong.

Hon Ja’afaru, in an interview with journalists, said President Bola Tinubu is to be particularly commended for ensuring that the process of establishing the two medical centres, commenced before he came to power, does not suffer delay.

He expressed joy especially about a recent signing of a memorandum of understanding when the federal government officially took over the sites of the centres from the Adamawa State Government.

The Reps member said, “I am delighted about the signing of MoU between the federal government and the Adamawa State Government.

“In some of these instances, there may be no mutual understanding, more so because of the political differences (between President Tinubu and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri). Luckily enough in this case the state government and the federal government are on one page.”

Recalling that it was President Muhammadu Buhari who signed the bills establishing the two medical centres, Hon Magaji said, “We appreciate President Buhari who signed the hills into law and President Tinubu who is ensuring smooth implementation of the laws regarding the two institutions.”

It would be recalled that the federal and Adamawa state governments have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the conversion of Cottage Hospital Hong and General Hospital Mubi into federal medical centers.

Signing the agreement on behalf of the state in Yola, the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta said the state government is mindful of federal government policies, especially the ones that benefit the people of the state.

Farauta noted that the state government couldn’t say no when the two health institutions were asked to be handed over to the federal government due to the numerous benefits to the people of the state.

She appealed to the federal government to consider carrying along people from the state for employment into the services of the two FMCs.

“We want to ask that our people are the ones to be used in populating the FMCs because they are located in Adamawa,” she said.

The deputy governor assured of the state government’s support for the institutions to thrive and complement state government’s efforts in the health sector.

“I want to thank federal government for adding value to the efforts of the state government in health sector,” she said.

Work has since commenced at the permanent site of the FMC Mubi as residents expressed support to ensure completion of the project geared towards improving health services.
