As the Adamawa State House of Assembly Lawmakers continue to celebrate their one year in office, the member representing Mubi South constituency at the assembly, Hon. Yohanna Sahabo Jauro, has presented the scorecard of stewardship at the hallowed chamber.
Hon. Sahabo who represents Mubi South constituency under the platform of the APC, highlighted some of his significant achievements at his constituency level and at the plenary sessions.
Though it is not the constitutional responsibilty of the lawmakers to embark on the execution of capital projects, they can however carry out such projects under “constituency projects ” with a view to complementing the effort of the executive arm.
Just like some of the performing lawmakers of the 8th assembly, Hon. Sahabo’s achievements are evident not only during plenaries but at his constituency where he had impacted meaningfully in the lives of his constituents.
Aside his meaningful contributions during debates on bills and motions at the plenary, the lawmaker had on his assumption of office, sponsored a motion where he sought for the assembly as well as state government’s intervention in illegal mining activities by a construction company in Lamorde Ward, Mubi South LGA
He briefed his colleagues on the activities of the company in a community known as Unguwan Kara in Lamorde ward, Mubi South LGA, saying that the company was carrying out mining in residential areas causing pollution, affecting the health of his electorate and destroying houses.
He informed the assembly that the company had promised to render community service but failed to do so, and prayed the assembly to constitue a committee to investigate it as well as stop the activities which the assembly granted all his prayers and passed a resolution on the matter to that effect.
Hon. Sahabo, also sponsored a matter of urgent public importance on the proliferation of colleges of health, lamenting that about 19 colleges of health owned by individuals, use public structures to train their students.
Due to the importance of the motion, the lawmakers led by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, unanimously considered and adopted it and constituted a committee with a mandate to investigate the operation of the colleges.
Interestingly, the motion attracted the attention of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led “Fresh Air” administration which also through the Ministry of Health and Human Services investigated the proliferation of the colleges.
Hon. Sahabo, who is being described at the assembly and by his teeming constituents as a gentle, articulate, a cheerful giver and leader per excellence, had last week Friday, flagged of the distribution of 2,000 bags of grains to his electorate as part of effort to fighting hunger.
The legislator also flagged of the installation of 200 solar street light at several communities across for security purposes and donated cash to the leadership of the party, coordinators and several others who directly benefited from him.
He distributed 600 new desks/class-furniture to 47 primary schools across the 10 wards of his constituency.
In consideration of the importance of education and health sectors in the society, Hon. Sahabo, on Saturday, last week, laid a foundation for the construction of examination hall at Dirbishi ward and renovated the only maternity/clinic at Chaba Duvu ward and furnished it and supplied it with drugs and also flagged of the construction of modern abbatoir at Kwaja ward.
The Hon. Member had awarded scholarship to 11 indigene students (youths) to further their education at the tertiary institution (School of Health Technology,Mubi) and sponsored the studies of 2 constituents at the College of Nursing and Midwifery in Yola.
He facilitated the recruitment of 3 unemployed youth into Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), 7 into the Nigeria Army, 3 into the NDLEA and appointed 15 Personal/Special Assistants and placed them on monthly salary.
He provided 4 new industrial boreholes at Wuro-Bukude/Bayan Asibiti (Nasarawo Ward, Saranyi (Ndukku Ward), Dou-Gada (Nasarawo Ward) and Wuro-Patuji/Tudun-Wada (Gude Ward) and rehabilitated almost all dilapidated hand pump and industrial boreholes in his constituency.
Speaking during the working visit, Hon. Yohanna Sahabo Jauro, thanked his constituents for the mandate giving to him and further appreciated them for their support since assumption of office.
He said that he was voted to come work for his electorate and promised to ensure he delivers on his mandate for the betterment of his constituents.
According to him, the achievements so far recorded is just the beginning of many good things to come and assured them of his readiness to bring whatever that is meant for them for the benefit of all and sought for their prayers, support and cooperation to enable him justify the confidence reposed in him.
