Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has inaugurated local government boundary committee, directing it to document land matters in the respective councils.
Inaugurating the committee, which comprises all the security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders, the Deputy Governor urged them to ensure peaceful land disputes resolutions and protection of boundaries against encroachment for usage of generation yet unborn.
She said, “Our land needs to be protected so that we can continue to benefit from the gift of God.
‘Whenever you have issues with land, we should report to authority and not take law into our land”.
“Whatever assignment you are carrying in your respective councils, you are to report back to the Governor of the state.
“Land matter must be documented, so that those that would come after us, would have reason to continue on clean slate.”
She stressed that their inauguration is a call to serve the state, hence the need to be serious and committed in addressing lingering boundary disputes, and foster collaboration among border communities.
Professor Farauta reiterated governor Fintiri led administration zero tolerance to anything that can jeopardize its territorial integrity, peace, security and socio economic activities along the border areas, even as she advocated for proper documentation of every border issues to ensure continuity.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary state boundary commission Mercy Dauda said the event marks a mile stone towards fostering harmony, collaboration and development.
She advised the committee to face the task given them with diligence, commitment and professionalism.
Speaking on behalf of the inaugurated committee, Sale Shelleng, promised to carry out their new tasks with prudently.
