Fire destroyed many shops at Yola Town market on Monday, leaving affected traders counting their losses
The state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta who visited the scene, assured that government would provide support to the affected traders.
“We are here to commiserate with our brothers and sisters who have been affected by this fire incident. Government will look into what has happened,” she said.
She asked the traders to take the collosal loss in good faith as no life was lost.
The Deputy Governor urged traders to allow access road when building shops in case of eventuality.
Umar Abubakar, leader of the traders urged government to support them as many traders have been ruined by the fire disaster.
Abubakar said the fire started by 2:am which took many unaware as traders were asleep at the time.
Saidu Musa one of the affected traders said the intensity of the inferno was such that nothing could be salvaged from his shop.
Alhaji Zubairu Mustapha, the District Head of Yola town, thanked government for identifying with the traders.
