Modibbo Adama University has offered excellence award to 41 undergraduate medical sciences students who scored 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
Named Governing Council Award for Continuing Students, the award was announced Wednesday during the 2023/2024 matriculation of the university.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Tukur, who made the announcement, said the award which attracts finance, books and certificate of recommendation is aimed at acknowledging the students for distinguishing themselves.
Also honoured is Oluwatoyen Adabayo of the Accountancy Department who scored 4.93 CGPA, among many others across other departments who made similarly outstanding cumulative grades.
The VC said a total number of 3,579 students were admitted into the various departments of the university for the new academic session
Faculty of Life Sciences admitted 675 students, which is the largest
in the 2023/2024 academic session.
Faculty of Agriculture has 348, Faculty of Education 241, Faculty of Engineering 345, Faculty of Environmental Sciences 257 students.
Faculty of Physical Sciences 484 students, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences 495 while the College of Medical Sciences admitted 50.
In addition, 559 distance learning degree students and 125 students for Sandwich programme were also matriculated.
The VC cautioned students that to take their studies seriously and nit be influenced by the outside world.
He advised the students to channel their complaints through the Guidance and Counseling Unit and report any form of harassment.
“We are going to be strong in defending your integrity in case of harassment,” the VC assured.
