Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has banned the ferrying of building materials from the state across border communities to neighboring countries.
The governor described transferring of such materials across the international borderlines, mostly to Cameroon, as contributing to surges in the prices of building materials.
According to a statemeent passed to newsmen by Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, the Chief Press Secrectary to Governor Fintiri, the governor asked all security agencies to intensify surveillance and stop trucks from movement of all building materials to neighboring countries.
Trending News gathered Thursday night that building materials such as cement meant for Adamawa market are taken instead to neigbouring countries where they reportedly fetch more money for dealers.
Cameroon with which the Adamawa axis of Nigeria share extensive borderlines, is believed to be in the lead of the countries into which building materials and some other commodities meant for Adamawa State are transferred.
