The National Universities Commission (NUC) has okayed the establishment of College of Medical Sciences at Adamawa State University Mubi.
The NUC panel led by Professor Auwal Abubakar, while briefing Adamawa state government on their findings ahead of the establishment, made a case for manpower for the 24 proposed departments of the college.
Addressing the visitors, Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta informed them that plans for the establishment of the college of medical sciences in the university has been in the pipeline.
She assured the NUC of government’s continuous support for the realization of the set goal.
According to her,
health sector remains a top priority of governor Fintiri led administration, the deputy governor underscored the importance of partnership, noting that the establishment will further expand the health delivery for the citizens.
Earlier, the NUC panel which visited specialist hospital to assess the possibility of upgrading it to teaching hospital, were also at the state university Mubi where they expressed satisfaction with the facilities and equipments on ground.
The assessment visit followed the application by Adamawa state university to establish the college of medicine and allied health sciences, noting that preparations for the establishment of the college has gone far.
The host and the vice chancellor, Adamawa state university Mubi professor Clement Augustine expressed delight, commending governor Fintiri for his support towards the establishment of the long awaited college of medicine.
