Adamawa state Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapha Farauta has urged for actions to address climate change threats and attendant environmental consequences and means of livelihoods
Speaking during her keynote address at a one day workshop on after action review on 2025 flood Farauta cautioned against increasing in human factor which involves bush burning and deforestation.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, deputy governor’s office Dr. Markus Linah appreciated the flood response team for their timely responses during the flood the devastated the state.
Declaring the workshop open, Mr Ladan Ayuba, Head of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)
pointed out that flooding has remained one of the most devastating disasters in the state, displacing families, destroying liveshoods, and straining available resources.
According to him, the recent flooding in Yola South LGA tested the response team capacity, but also also offered valuable lessons on what worked well and where critical gaps remain.
This After Action Review
is therefore not about pointing fingers, but about learning together – to examine our preparedness, coordination, rescue operations, relief interventions, and community engagement, with the aim of strengthening our capacity for future response.
“By reflecting on our collective actions, we can identify best practices, address gaps, and recommend practical steps that will guide our response to subsequent flood emergencies in Adamawa State and beyond.
Mr Diyale Diftuffe, Senior Program Manager, International Rescue Committee said the workshop provides platform for reflection of collective experience, identify areas of improvement and strengthen coordination mechanism for future responses.
