Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri says he remains committed to supporting military and other security agencies to tackle all forms of insecurity in the state.
The Governor disclosed this at the opening of 3 Division inter brigade warrant officers and senior non-commissioned officers competition 2025, held at Gibson Jalo Cantonment, Yola.
“On assumption of office, I resolve to find lasting solutions to the longering crisis in the state,” Fintiri said.
He said one of the approach adopted was to strengthen the capacity of security apparatus of the state to better tackle this challenge.
The competition brought together six different formations within 3 division area of responsibility, comprising 33 artillery bridge Bauchi, 6 brigade Jalingo, 23 armoured brigade Yola, and 3 division garrison as well as 43 engineer brigade and 53 signal brigade, Jos.
Officers engaged in drills competition, designed to test their leadership quality, organizational ability, level of initiative, and physical fitness.
In an address, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his Deputy Professor Kaletapwa Farauta lauded the officers for their sacrifices in the face of internal and external threats, at ensuring the security and stability of the state.
According to the Governor, the officers need more than just courage to perform effectively, highlighting the importance of empowering them with the right tools, training, and support of people in that regard.
As such, Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue patronizing its partnership with security agencies and sustain its investment in initiatives aimed at boosting their operational capabilities.
He reminded the officers that the competition is a powerful affirmation of their qualities that make them exceptional soldiers.
The Commander, 23 Armoured Brigade Yola, Brigadier General Amechi Agwu on behalf of the GOC 3 division Major General Folusho Oyinlola said the exercise is a demonstration of their shared commitment to the operational readiness and combat effectiveness.
He informed the participants that their commitment to physical and mental toughness will set an example and inspire the younger generations.
