Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has inspected exhibitions and theatrical performances from women and maidens as well as folktale cooking, gardening and knitting in Kwete, Lamurde LGA.
During the inspection on Friday, the deputy governor charged youths to take advantage of the ongoing state Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation (PAWECA) programs to enroll into skills acquisition training.
Farauta, while speaking in the Lamurde Local Government Area venue of the activities lineup for the upcoming Kwete Annual Festival 2025, sued for peaceful coexistance among the diverse people of the state, adding that the festival has preserved the rich cultural heritage of Bwatiye people at home and in the diaspora.
The Deputy Governor congratulated them for hosting the event even as she prayed for bountiful rainy season.
The convener and wife of the paramount ruler, Hama Bachama Roseline Ismaila said the event provided avenue to showcase women’s contributions and new strategies of promoting entrepreneurship amongst women through provision of exhibition and innovations.
The National Women President Pene Da Bwatiye Magret Evans praised government for championing peace and stability in the state as well as Hama Bachama for providing platform for women.
According to her, the event highlights the multifaceted capabilities of women before and after marriage, encompassing home management, culinary arts, blending various aspects of culture showcasing rich cultural endowments.
Miss Takotoron Dickson from Numan local government area emerged as Hikiti kwete from the 12 maidens that displayed traditional dance talents.
Ester Augustine came second and Patience Wayas went home with the third position.
Kwete festival of Bachama chiefdom signifies the end of a farming cycle and marks the beginning of another traditional year.
