The Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has urged the United Nations for more interventions in critical areas in the state.
Farauta spoke Tuesday when she granted audience to a delegation of United Nation SDG International and the National University Commission NUC in her office.
The two bodies announced $1 million US dollar intervention to Adamawa State University (ADSU) Mubi.
She explained that government is up and doing in payment of NECO and WAEC fees to provide basic knowledge for future leaders in the state.
She told the delegation that government is keen on raising education status of the state.
Farauta who was former Vice Chancellor of the University said the institution suffered some destruction in the past from the insurgency.
She urged UN officials to look at other critical areas for more support in the institutions.
Mr Uzoh Ifanyi, Nigerian/African regional representative-United Nation SDG International
said Saudi EXIM Bank has approved $ 1 million grant for installation of solar power system at Adamawa State University Mubi (ADSU).
Ifanyi said the ADSU was selected for the project in collaboration with National University Commission (NUC) to also train 40 youths on installation and maintenance of the solar system and would be placed monthly allowance for six months.
He said 12 universities across the six geo-political zones have been selected to benefit
$1 million solar product each
He said the head office in Korea would midwife the project as memorandum of understanding MoU has already been signed with BME company for the supply and commencement of the project in August.
The delegation who were in the state on visibility studies stated that Rwanda and Kenya are to benefit from renovations of primary health centers and stadium renovations respectively.
Dr. Joseph Bisong who represented Executive Secretary National Universities Commission NUC lauded the intervention aimed at moving the institution to greater level.
