The Adamawa state government has appreciated International Rescue Committee (IRC) and other development partners for their efforts in tackling malnutrition and empowering women and youths in the state
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri enumerated this at a town hall meeting on “Building sustainable partnerships for inclusive development”, held at banquet hall government house, Yola.
The meeting was to assess achievement and seek continued collaboration with Adamawa state government to discuss IRC programming in the state and opportunities for sustainability as well as to seek more support for effective delivery of their services.
Declaring the event open, governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his deputy professor Kaletapwa Farauta, gave kudos to the development partners, stressing that they occupy critical space in bringing good governance to the people through their community projects.
The governor added, “We can not work as a government without your support. There is space you occupy in bringing governance to our people. When you raise a healthy generation you raise a productive generation
“Your support in the area of malnutrition is to ensure healthy future leaders.
Thank you IRC for reaching out to women and children as government and Adamawa people are beneficiaries of your activities.”
Speaking on the need for concerted efforts to raise healthy and productive generation by investing in women and youths, the governor reiterated government’s continuous support and provision of enabling environment for optimal result.
The country director IRC Babatunde Ojei said the organization is committed to responding to the pressing humanitarian crisis and assisting individuals in surviving, recovering, and rebuilding their lives, thereby ensuring that persons regain control of their lives and rebuild their communities.
He revealed that their programs in Adamawa encompass sectors of human endeavor to include education, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, nutrition economic recovery and development, governance as well as protection.
