Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has waded into the communal crisis in Numan local government area.
A government peace delegation headed by Barrister Awwal Tukur, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) said investigation to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the crisis would be conducted to avert reccurrence.
The delegation sympathized with the affected communities and urged the warring factions to bury their differences in the interest of peace.
“We are here to commiserate with both sides and caution them to make peace their watch word,” the SSG said, appreciating the role played by the Numan Traditional Council for ensuring peace.
The Hama Bachama, Homun Dr. Daniel Ismaila Shaga, stressing that the traditional institution is saddned by the recent crisis, urged the security agencies to ensure no trouble maker is allowed to go free.
“At all angles we are suppressing anything that can bring conflict so that peace can reign.
We are saddened that we are in the news for the wrong reasons,” the royal father said.
He thanked Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for sending the delegation to hear about the matter from the source.
Mr Donatus Lams, the District Head of Vulpi, who spoke on behalf of the affected Bachama community, appreciated the restoration of peace in the area.
“Go and tell the world that there is peace in Bachama land. Everything has been settled,” the district head said.
Maikano Ahmadu Sarki, Fulani Bachama Kingdom, promised to cooperate with security agencies to prevent future occurrence of such mayhem.
Sarki appreciated government for prompt intervention as well as the Bachama traditional institution in their efforts to finding lasting solution to the crisis.
In his remark, Mr Ismail Murray, the Youth leader of Numan Federation who doubles as youth liason officer on security, blamed the crisis on misinformation, promising to support government to achieve peace in all its ramifications.
Murray said timely intervention by government helped in curtailing the situation.
The youth leader appealed for reinstatement of police outpost in Vulpi to improve security of the area.
Both Fulani and Bachama leaders urged government to compensate loses encountered during the crisis.
The government delegation included Commander 23rd Armoured Brigade, Director Department of State Security Service (DSS), Commissioner of Police, and a representat8ve of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC).
