The paramount traditional leader of Ebira people, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr Ado Ibrahim, is dead.
Ado, as he was fondly called when he was a prominent Lagos-based entrepreneur before he became king, died in the early hours of Sunday at a clinic in Abuja.
He reportedly succumbed to age-related illness.
The late Ado Ibrahim was coronated in 1997 as the Ohinoyi of Ebira Land by Governor of Kogi State at the time, Prince Abubakar Audu (late).
He took over from Alhaji Sanni Omolorim who reigned as the Ohinoyi between 1957 and 1997.
Born on February 7, 1929, Ado Ibrahim had early western and Quranic education, finishing at that level in 1940 from the Native Authority (NA) Primary School, Okene.
He started his secondary school education at Ondo Boys High School, Ondo, and later moved to Oduduwa College, Ile Ife, where he finished in 1949.
In 1954, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a Master’s degree from Harvard Business School in 1959.
He was scheduled to be buried in Okene Sunday afternoon.
