Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has advocated for the introduction of character learning as subject in the Nigerian Universities educational curriculum to ensure graduates are sound and morally produced
Farauta made the appeal at the 28th edition of the annual conference of the association of Nigeria university chaplains (ANUC), held at the Trinity Chapel, Modibbo Adama University Yola
With the 2026 ANUC conference theme: “Soul winning and discipleship in a technologically driven world”, the deputy governor acknowledged the contributions of the chaplains in the university campuses and beyond.
She tasked the chaplains of universities chapel to remain steadfast in directing the students to Christ and ensure character development in them.
She also harped on the educational planners to work towards introducing courses on character moulding in curriculum.
Professor Farauta frowned at character deficiency among university graduates, advocating for practical ways of ensuring students are morally and character wise sound to glorify God.
The theme for the conference according to her, is apt, encouraging the chaplains to redouble efforts in leading the campus population to salvation amidst the technological driven society.
The deputy governor however, drew their attention on the rising issues such as strategic and appropriate use of the digital platforms for soul winning and discipleship in the digital world, appropriate online biblical counseling platforms for Nigerian university community, Faith building and faith pollution prevention in the digital generation among others.
Earlier, the president association of Nigeria university chaplains ANUC Bishop Olukayode Adedayo Ajibade said the conference seeks to sharpen themselves for robust and productive ministries on universities.
The Bishop called on the chaplains to remain steadfast to their sacred mandate of making disciples and raise people that can stand in truth and live for God.
He advised them to ensure the message of Christ remains clear, relevant and powerful in every season, through wisdom, compassion and spiritual courage.
