The state executives of the Labour Party (LP) in Adamawa have dismissed a vote of no confidence passed on them by the local government chairmen of the party.
Eighteen of the party’s 21 LGA chairmen had on Thursday in Yola accused the state chairman of incompetence and announced removal of the chairman, Christopher Nicholas, as well as other members of the state executives committee, Exco.
The LP LG chairmen had gone on to constitute a state caretaker committee to replace the Nicholas’ Exco.
Reacting to this on Friday, however, Nicholas gathered his own executives at the Labour Party state secretariat in Yola where they insisted that their purported sack could not stand.
Nicholas said the people who announced that the state executives had been removed were just a group raised to cause disaffection in Labour Party.
He stressed that the party has a spelt out procedure which was not followed.
“At no time did anybody write or officially raise an eyebrow against anyone in the leadership. We have a mechanism for raising issues and it has not been done,” Nicholas said.
