The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRESS) implementing Nigeria’s £500m World Bank livestock project has named College of Agriculture Ganye as centre for Artificial Insemination Training in Adamawa State
Engr. Hussaini Idris Danjuma, Provost of the college, made the disclosure to government delegation led by the state Deputy Governor, Prof Kaletapwa Farauta during a facility tour as plan for the accreditation of the college.
Trending News reports that Adamawa and eight other northern states have accessed Nigeria’s £500m World Bank livestock loan advanced to Nigeria for the development of livestock and diary production to improve overall productivity.
While Borno, Gombe, Taraba, Kogi, Kwara, Niger and Oyo states have keyed into the £500m World Bank loan, Adamawa subscribed to the loan facility following the inauguration of N100 Billion Agric bond by the state government.
The bond is expected to boost the economy of the state with improved IGR as well as provide 750,000 direct jobs and 1.5 million indirect jobs for youths in the state.
Farauta while addressing staff and students of the college, assured that the college, which has 14 departments, would be accredited.
This would be 30 years after its establishment.
“Apart from the general promises that education would be given desired attention, Governor Fintiri promised that the college would be upgraded.
“Staff promotions would also be approved even before the college council is constituted. Government wants to see that College of Agriculture Ganye competes with other sister institutions in Nigeria and beyond,” the deputy governor said.
Earlier, the college provost Hussaini Danjuma said the college which operates four campuses in Sangasume, Sugu, Gyawana and Ganye town had been neglected by past administration and challenged by inadequate funding.
