Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has seek churches across Adamawa state to offer prayers for the state and nation’s unity.
The governor spoke at Inter-Denominational Service organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to mark 2024 Nigeria’s Independence Day of prayers, held at the First Baptist Church Jimeta Yola.
He said the Leadership of the state is greetful for the role churches had in offering prayers to overcome challenges people are passing through, adding them to belief in the faith of God.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, said ” I stand here on behalf of the Executive Governor, Rt.Hon Ahmadu Fintiri who sent his independence greetings to the churches in Adamawa.
“The Governor sent me to tell the church, that he is aware of the challenges, we are passing through.
“He also appreciated prayers the church is offering on behalf of this government.
” We want ask the church not to get tired of offering prayers for the state and the nation.
‘It is now time to pray the more as the Bible encourages us”.
The Governor commended parents for not allowing their children to participate in the purported nationwide protest.
Earlier, state chairman, CAN, Rev Joel Manzo asked federal government to turn its promises of supporting its citizenry into actions, aimed at ameliorate the current hardship in the land
Manzo said, Nigerians are getting tired of mere promises without fulfillment to improve their plight.
“We want the Federal government to turn its promises into actions as is being experienced here in Adamawa state under the fresh air administration.
‘In Nigeria today, we are in a situation of escaping from one killer into the waiting hands of another.
“Consequently, we must bear in mind the necessity of equal rights, opportunities, and unbias treatment under the law.
The Clergyman said despite progress made in some sectors, Nigeria still face difficulties like insecurity, economic hardship, corruption, and social injustice.
He insisted that “Our hope is in Christ the hope of glory. With Him all things are possible.
” Things may change because Christ gives beauty in place of ashes, He gives oil of gladness in place of mourning, and gives a garment of praise in place of despair.
The Guest Speaker at the event, who doubles as President Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, popularly known as EYN, Rev Dr Daniel Mbaya, added that one year down the line of governance, it has been Nigerian suffering more.
“When we cry for hardship, we were tagged as crocodile tears
“When we complaint, we were considered opposition.
“We have fallen of glory of God.
“Christ have dwelled in us we can over come challenges.
“As christians who have Christ in us we should bless the nation.
“Nigeria will over come the challenges and come out trumpantly.
“We need to have spiritual understand of Christ in a manner for repentance
“When have Christ and know him, then we could not suffer with those who suffers” the Cleric added.
