Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has felicitated with Most Rev Stephen Dami Mamza, Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, over successful completion of six year’s stewardship as the state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Wunfe Anthony, Commissioner for Transportation who represented the governor at the thanksgiving mass held at church Upper Luggere Jimeta, said Mamza’s dedication, wisdom and leadership has been an inspiration to the entire state.
The governor observed the episcopal duties of the Man of God is testament to his commitment to serve God and humanity.
‘I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on your successful completion of tenure as Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Adamawa state.
“I am greatful for your strong partnership and mutual respect, we share during your tenure, which fostered religious harmony and progress.
“Please accept my best wishes and those of the government and people of Adamawa state” the governor added.
Earlier, the sponsor of the thanksgiving service Dr Emmanuel Musa, distributed cash donation of N50,000, a bag of rice, maize, salt maggi, mattress to each beneficiary and 500 set of wrappers to catholic widow in the state.
Musa said the Cleric has used his vintage office as the CAN chairman to better the lives of the poor who are faced with challenges with difficult of life especially at trying times of present hardship.
He told the congregation that celebrating the clergyman is celebrating love for humanity.
In his remarks, Bishop mamza stated that within 11 months he constructed CAN secretariat, through the support he enjoyed from people across the state
The Cleric use the occasion to debunk rumors of contesting political position in the state
“What am doing as Bishop is more than the work of a Governor.
” I will never be a member of political party or contest any political position at whatsoever level.
“Am satisfied and fulfilled as Bishop and will never be involved in politics”. He added.
