Election Observers Fraud: Buhari’s Signature Forged to Withdraw $6.2b -Boss Mustapha

National News

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha has said the signature of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari was forged by those who withdrew $6,230,000 from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) last year.

The said withdrawal was made on February 8, 2023, after which an accusation was made that Boss Mustapha was actually behind the crime.

Boss Mustapha, testifying on Tuesday in the trial of former CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, said his own signature was also forged, although he knew nothing about the money.

The money was reported to have been withdrawn for the payment of foreigners who came into the country as observers during the last general election.

The ex-SGF explained that it was not the business of the federal government or the office of the SGF to request funds from the CBN for the payment of foreign election observers, as it was the sole responsibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deal with issues relating to election observers.
