The Adamawa state Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has expressed government’s worry over increasing cases of vaccine non-compliance, fueled by misinformation, myths, and mistrust which need collective efforts to tackle.
According to her, the trend of repeated measles outbreaks, despite repeated immunization efforts calls for concern from all and sundry.
Speaking at the 2025 1st Bi-Annual meeting with traditional rulers on primary health care matters held at the banquet hall, governmwmt house, Farauta reiterated government vigor to contend with several ongoing disease outbreaks.
“Government is committed beyond reviewing our immunization campaign and the rising disease burden.
” I hereby urge all Emirates and Chiefdoms to establish functional structures that meet regularly, work closely with our PHC agency and authorities, and is supported with training, data, and clear roles.
“I must also use this platform to challenge our local government council chairmen: leadership in Primary Health Care begins with you. Neglect, delay, or politicization of PHC services at the local level is not acceptable,” she said.
Earlier, Dr. Suleiman Bashir, Chairman Primary Health Care Development Agency, advocated for adoption of biometric attendance system to address multiple salaries in the health sector
Bashir said similar strategy had been adopted in some other states which yielded positive results in addressing multiple salaries.
“The agency officials were in Gombe to study their biometric attendance pay system.
” We are hope Adamawa government would adopt same platform”.
Bashir added that, 216 cholera,
140 cases of Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM), 380 measel cases were reported in the state.
He said Mayo-belwa top the list of vaccine non compliance with 1028 cases
Dr Visa Tyakaray WHO Adamawa, assured of health partners support to improve health of the populace in the state.
Oluseye Olusunde, Health Officer UNICEF, equally promised to support government to foster health care delivery.
