Adamawa Govt Pledges Support for MoU Between Yola, Garoua Varsities
Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta says bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Cameroon in the area of education could be better strengthened when both countries engage youths in the sector
Addressing a delegation from the University of Garoua Cameroon who were in her office Friday, Farauta said the MoU signed by the Garoua varsity and Modibbo Adama University Yola would be provided the needed support for productive educational society.
She said the two countries share many things in common cutting across borders, economic, inter-marriages and cultural heritage which have bonded them as one.
Professor Kaletapwa Farauta emphasised the importance of engaging youth educationally, which can shape their understanding towards peaceful coexistence and the need to contribute to the development of their communities.
She expressed government’s willingness to provide the needed leadership and all it takes for the development of the University of Garoua.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, University of Garoua, Professor Boubakari Oumarou, explained that as a young university established in 2022 with 10,000 students, it becomes imperative to sign the MoU in the areas of academic interest.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Modibbo Adama University Yola, Professor Iliyasu Audu said the MoU between the two institutions would allow exchanges in areas of sciences, art, humanities, medicine and all spheres of learning.
The bond is part of efforts to expand the horizon of knowledge through inter changes in both staff and students, the DVC added.
