No fewer than 26 illustrious sons and daughters from Batta Kingdom in Adamawa State have been confered with various traditional titles.
The Chiefdom says the honour id for the recipients’ contributions to humanity and development of the kingdom, and that the decision to carry along young people is deliberate to raise responsible generation to take leadership now and in future.
The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta was conferred with Rutu Batta along side Alhaji Hamidu Ahmadu Umar Fintiri, son of governor of Adamawa State turbaned as Kurmo Batta.
Other title recipients include Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar, Commissioner for Works and Housing Development, who is son of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the governor, Farauta enjoined the new traditional title holders to encourage people to key into dry season farming to improve food security of the state.
She urged parents to send their children to school to justify government investment in education sector as holiday ends next week.
“I call on the new title holders to use their positions to encourage people into dry season farming. People should save their farm harvest to avoid food scarcity in the state,” she said.
In his remark, Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke said the involvement of more youths for the titles is deliberate to raise responsible generation of young men and women to take mantle of leadership now and in future without regret.
“We should know that our value as a people is fast fading out due to influence of foreign culture and traditions
“We need to be careful in drawing our youths in promoting our culture. I want to strongly charge the new title holders to imbibe the culture of transparency and respect for elders,” he said.
Others who received the new titles include Chief Joel Hammanjoda Madaki, Nzomurokake Bwatiye, and former speaker Sen Iya Abbas Turmo Batta.
