Adamawa state government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing a clean environment across the state.
The Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, stated this during an inspection of the ongoing work at Clear Way one-seven near Maidoki Roundabout in Jimeta as well as opposite NNPC secretariat in Yola town
Professor Farauta explained that a clean environment offers numerous benefits, including providing fresh air for residents to breathe.
The places, both located at the entry points of the two cities are to be beautified and hygienically habitable for residents and visitors coming to the two cities.
She noted that the area would not only be clean but would also encourage recreational activities, allowing youths to engage in positive and meaningful pursuits rather than immoral behaviors.
She further emphasized that the environment would serve as a serene ecological space where families can relax and recover from daily stress.
The Deputy Governor highlighted the importance of the project, particularly because of the locations’ strategic significance as entry points into the state.
Inspecting an open space cleared for greening project in Yola South Local Government Area, the deputy governor explained that an unauthorized structure had initially been erected there, but Governor Ahmadu Fintiri ordered its removal so the area could be cleared.
She mentioned that community members expressed a preference for the space to be transformed into a green area with trees where they could relax during stressful moments.
The Deputy Governor added that following the Governor’s visit, there is hope that the location will see significant improvement in the coming weeks.
“Am here on a follow-up visit to ensure the Governor’s instructions are complied with.
“This place has been an eyesore, because it is turned to a dump side,” she said.
Yerima Abubakar Ahmadu and Jauro Saidu who spoke on behalf of the residents in the area urged the government to proceed with the plan to green the location with trees, expressing appreciation to the Governor for his intervention.
