Sen Iya Abbas Distributes 2400 Bags of 50kg Fertilizer to Farmers

As part of his effort towards boosting farming activities, the Senator representing Adamawa Central District, Aminu Iya Abbas on Thursday began the distribution of fertilizer to farmers in the seven local government areas that make up the constituency.

Speaking while making symbolic presentation to some beneficiaries, Senator Iya Abbas said that the fertilizer will be distributed free of charge to his electorate across 76 political wards.

The programme is the first phase of the exercise which forms part of a broader strategy to ensure sustainable agricultural practices.

Abbas, who is also the chairman, Senate Committee on Innovation,Science and Technology, explained that the programme was designed to empower the farmers within Adamawa Central Senatorial District to be able to minimize the challenges faced with food production and improve the quantity and quality of farm produce for the people of the Senatorial District and beyond

He charged farmers to cultivate more land with food and cash crops for them to be able to meet their family and other demands, adding that the free distribution of the fertilizer would go a long way for them to realise their ambitions.

He disclosed that the fertilizer will be conveyed to all the LGAs and wards and be distributed free of charge, saying that he had already settled the transportation bill and cautioned those responsible for distribution not to ask a dime from anybody.

He informed the gathering that there are forms which will be distributed to households across his constituency and that after filling it correctly, the beneficiaries will be given N50,000 each.

Senator Aminu Iya Abbas, thanked his Steering Committee, his Aides and teeming electorate across the district for their support snd corporation.

In his welcome address, the Director General Senator Iya Abbas 2023 Senatorial Campaign Council, Alh. Usman Muhammad Kaura, who was represented by Alh. Musa Chai, commended the Senator for the gesture.

The DG noted that the gesture is coming at a time when farmers need fertilizer to boost their farm produce, and urged them to judiciously utilise the commodity for the purpose intended.

On his part, a Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP stakeholder Hon. Adamu Baba Mustapha, described him as silent achiever and commended him for his tireless effort in empowering his electorate, saying that Aminu is among the leading senators in sponsoring bills and motions in the National Assembly.

The fertilizer were distributed to the Senator’s electorate across 7 Local Government Areas which comprise central district including Fufore, Yola South, Yola North, Girei, Song, Gombi and Hong.
