The Member Representing Yola South Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa has commenced the drilling and installation of solar-powered water project to alleviate water shortage in the constituency.
Speaking during the commencement of the project, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa, who is representing Yola South Constituency for 3 times consecutively said that the project when completed, would pump water to the 3000 ltrs water tank and reticulation pipeline between the hours morning and evening to the people of the areas benefited.
He said the drilling and installation would run simultaneously in some selected communities, under the first phase, while other hard to reach areas will benefit in the next phase of the project.
The ranking lawmaker further revealed that, the project would leverage on the existing boreholes where available and drill new ones where necessary to ensure that people have access to portable drinking water.
According to him, providing water for domestic consumption to the people of Yola South constituency is top among his major priorities, hence, the need of his resolve to embark on the project to alleviate the suffering of the constituents.
Mijinyawa, said the project is primarily meant to fulfill the basic needs of the people and to ensure their right of access to safe domestic water, good hygiene, and other basic amenities
The benefiting communities, which had previously decried the perennial water shortage and lack of access to safe drinking water, commended Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijnyawa for coming to their Aid.
The Multi Million Naira water project will also include drilling of boreholes, installing solar powered system and pipe network in the benefiting communities.
