Many people in Adamawa State who lived for several years with troubling ailments because they were financially deprived, had reason to celebrate at the weekend after benefitting from a free medical intervention that relived them of their pains.
A man, Abubakar Halidu who endured hernia for 15 years because of lack of money for the necessary operation, said, “It’s been so many anxious years of living with the pain, but today I have been operated and even discharged.”
A woman, Saratudeen Alhassan who was operated of appendicitis, was full of praise: “I had suffered the pain for over two years when I could not afford the operation, but now I am so relieved.”
The two and about 3,000 others became beneficiaries when a medical team visited Garaha, a community in Hong LGA where a faith-based organisation conducted the free medical outreach.
The organisation, The Harvest Family Outreach (THFO), in conjunction with Adamawa chapter of Christian Medical and Dentist Association (CMDA), conducted the medical intervention, carrying out more than 100 surgeries and thousands of other forms of treatment.
The project coordinator of the Adamawa outreach, Ms Chioma Odili said The Harvest Family Outreach program in Adamawa targeted people with screening and treatment of ailments ranging from blood pressure, blood sugar, Hepatitis B and C test, to HIV and more.
Also, the Director of THFO, Engr Injinya Nimrod who was represented on the occasion by Dr Lemuel Musa, said the realization that the people need good health care, water and more motivated the medical outreach.
“Government cannot do all things for us, so it’s my plea to well to do persons, groups and corporate organizations to come and assist just like THFO,” he urged.
The Lead Surgeon for the Garaha Medical outreach, Dr Raymond Chidama, said people from all the 10 wards of Hong LGA and from neighboring Gombi LGA came for the free medical treatments in Garaha.
