Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area have reaffirmed their confidence in the leadership of Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu, Member representing Mayo-Belwa Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, and Hon. Umar Nashong Gubi, Executive Chairman of Mayo-Belwa LGA.
Speaking during a press conference held on Tuesday at the Government Lodge, Mayo Belwa LGA, a critical stakeholder of the party Mr. Peter Daafe, who addressed the media on behalf of the two leaders, described as “unfortunate and misleading” the recent claims by some individuals alleging dictatorial tendencies in the local party leadership.
Daafe clarified that under the stewardship of Hon. Kallamu and Hon. Gubi, the PDP structure in Mayo-Belwa has remained strong, united, and results-oriented, emphasizing that both leaders have consistently promoted inclusiveness, transparency, and collective decision-making across all party levels.
Their open-door policy has given every committed member a voice. Their performance in public office speaks for their dedication to service and development,” Daafe stated.
He further noted that the outcome of the 2023 general elections should not be used to unfairly judge individuals, stressing that electoral outcomes are reflections of collective efforts and not the responsibility of one or two party members.
According to him, both Hon. Kallamu and Hon. Gubi have since moved beyond the setbacks of the past elections and are now focused on strengthening the PDP at the grassroots level through unity and reconciliation.
The press statement also dispelled claims of interference in ward elections, maintaining that the two leaders only participated in their respective wards, in line with the directive of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
“All ward elections were conducted peacefully and transparently. The results have been accepted by both leaders, who recognize all duly elected ward executives as legitimate leaders,” he said.
Daafe reaffirmed the duo’s unwavering loyalty to the Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, describing him as “the Fresh Air Governor and the Infrastructural Transformer”, whose leadership has brought remarkable progress to the state.
“Hon. Kallamu and Hon. Gubi remain loyal allies and strong supporters of the Fresh Air administration. They are committed to ensuring the continued delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of Mayo-Belwa and Adamawa State,” he added.
Other PDP stakeholders who spoke during the briefing including Buba Wuro Gi’e, Chairman of Ribadu Ward Babangida Ribadu, and Rabiu Ibrahim echoed similar sentiments, urging members to remain united and focused ahead of future elections.
They emphasized that the strength of the party lies in its unity and respect for constituted authority, calling on members to disregard divisive statements and work collectively for the progress of Mayo-Belwa and Adamawa State.
