The Chairman of Margi Catholic Community, Yola chapter, Mr Ijai James has described Margi people as special, unique in their culture and peace loving.
The chairman stated this during Yawal Cultural Festival organized by Margi Catholic community Yola town and held at saint Mary Catholic church Yola south local Government Area of the state.
The Yawal festival is an annual cultural event celebrated in Margi land from the month July to September ,the event witnessed by prominent Margi sons and daughters
Mr Ijai said the Yawal cultural festival is a day set aside to offer prayers and thanks giving to God for a bumper harvest, prosperity, protection and unity among margi community
The Yawal festival is celebrated by slaughtering of Animals, exchange of gifts marri-marking among others.
The chairman saluted Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his foresight in ensuring peace and security in the state, urged him to maintain the posture,while Appreciating sons and daughters of the land for their enemouse contribution towards the success of the event.
The chairman of the Occasion, Honourable Emmanuel Tamsdu, former Deputy Speaker in the state House of Assembly, challenged Margi people in the state to cultivate habit of thanksgiving to God after harvest at all times.
He appealed to them to unite and live peacefully with one another for the benefit and well-being of the margi speaking people, state and the nation as whole.
Doctor Steven Maduwa Ubandoman Michika who served as a special guest of honor described the celebration as unique said it will go a long way in uniting people and promote cultural heritage.
He appealed to them to continue in prayers for peace and unity in the state and the country at large.
