Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri says his administration will continue to show commitment and political will to the provision of welfare services to the vulnerable segment of the society to enhance livelihoods.
The governor stated this at the official flag off of distribution of farm inputs to 84 agricultural co-operative societies across the 21 LGAs through the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development.
The governor, represented by his Deputy Professor Kaletapwa Farauta said over 1000 farmers through their various registered cooperative societies benefited to improve food security and production.
He reiterated that agricultural production and value chain development is one of his administration’s gender, believing that the cooperative societies are vital in the production of food for both household and commercial consumption.
Governor Fintiri said the cooperative societies are significant in not only economic development but also in contributing to job creation, poverty reduction, and social integration.
The governor expressed government determination to invest in physical, social and economic security to the people of the state, congratulating the beneficiaries even as he tasked them to use the inputs judiciously in their farming operation to enhance their livelihoods activities, reducing poverty and improving standard of living.
The Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development Hammanjumba Gatugel informed the gathering that the ministry was created in 2019 with the mandate of providing the state’s entrepreneurship development initiative, strategy for entrepreneurship development activities and facilitate the growth of business and industry among others.
He explained that over 2,000 registered cooperative societies across the 21 local government areas are mostly engaged in various trades such as farming, trading, tailoring, fashion design, welding and fabrication, barbing and hair dressing, food processing among others.
The commissioner enumerated some activities implemented by the ministry with the support of governor Fintiri geared towards promoting entrepreneurship development and wealth creation, which serves as a catalyst for social capital development, job creation, poverty reduction and foster economic advancement.
Gatugel appreciated governor Fintiri for empowering citizens to become selfreliant and economically buoyant.
There were goodwill messages from director general poverty alleviation and wealth creation agency Dr. Michael Zirra among other stakeholders who thanked governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his people oriented policies and programs for a better and productive Adamawa.
