Fintiri Urges FG, States To Subdue Obstacles Against Business Competitiveness

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has challenged the federal government and the various states to summon the courage to subdue obstacles to business competitiveness around the country.

Speaking on Friday at a Performance Management Retreat organised in Yola for the top management of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Fintiri said, “We must have the courage to subdue every obstacle that impedes business competitiveness at both the national and the subnational levels.”

The governor who was represented on the opening ceremony of the retreat by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, said dwindling resources are increasingly making development efforts difficult.

“The Nexus between our growing expenditure needs and our incomes are becoming glaringly incompatible,” the governor asserted, adding, “We must invest ingenous thoughts into matching public expenditure against revenue.”

He said the situation places the burden on the shoulders of the Federal Ministry of Finance as the custodian of the public purse to continuously meet and brainstorm on the way forward.

In his own remark, the Minister of Finance, Chief Adebayo Edu, thanked the Adamawa State Government for being gracious enough to hold his ministry’s retreat.

The Minister assured Nigerians that his ministry is committed to doing all that will be necessary to put the Nigerian economy on the right route for growth.
