Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged graduands of Modibbo Adama University MAU Yola, to work hard and stand out to the challenges of the moment and of the future.
Speaking at the 28th convocation ceremony of the university on Saturday in Yola, Fintiri said the university has done its best as a hatchery, as well as the parents of the graduating students who provided needed support.
“We are all here not only to clap for you for coming this far but equally to cheer you for an enduring bright future,” Fintiri said.
The governor who was represented on the occasion by his deputy, Professor Kaletapws Farauta, congratulated the Vice Chancellor who has only a bout a month to complete his five-year tenure, for organizing three convocations in his five years.
“This convocation is more than a graduation ceremony. It is perhaps a moment of reflection on his stewardship and opportunity to look back and see whether or not he has been able to deliver on his initial vision for the university, ” Fintiri said.

Okuku Uwa Umoh Adiaka 3 and paramount ruler of Obot Akara local government area in Akwa Ibom state, congratulated the graduands for their success.
The vice chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur acknowledged the achievements made in advancing the mission and vision of the university which would not have been possible without team work.
Professor Tukur reminded the students that the certificate and knowledge acquired is a powerful tool to be used to shape their future for a better society.
A total of 5,545 candidates in all graduated, made up of 458 diplomas, and 4, 282 in the Bachelor’s Degree category, with 53 first class, 1,143 second class upper, 2,376 second class lower,682 third class and 28 pass degrees.
In the higher degree category, 41 post graduate diplomas, 630 master’s and 134 Ph.Ds in various discipline were also awarded.
