Adamawa Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapha Farauta has lauded federal government for its prompt intervention support to the victims of flood disaster in the state.
Farauta who received the items in Yola Thursday stated that the items would be distributed to the identified beneficiaries in their communities.
Farauta thanked President Tinubu for the intervention assuring that it would be judiciously distributed.
She explained that the state government would soon constitute a committee to enumerate households and individuals in area of return of displaced person that were affected.
“What NEMA brought today is addition what they gave on the day of the flood.
“We want thank say thank you to Mr President who is father to the nation for the gesture.
“We want thank NEMA as an agency for standing by us all the time”.
She listed items received to includes 500 bags of 25kg of rice 500 bags of 25kg of maize, 500 cartoons of spaghetti, 50 cartoons of seasoning cubes, 50 cartoons of tomato paste, 50 kegs of vegetables oil and 50 bags of iodized salt
Other non food items donated were 1000 pieces of plastic cups, 1000 pieces of plastic spoon, 250 pieces of children wears, 200 pieces of nylon mats, 200 pieces of blanket and 200 pieces of mattress.
Earlier, the Zonal Director, North East of the agency, Yakubu Suleiman who handed over the items said the agency through it Disaster Response Unit had played a vital role in evacuation and response operations during the flood
Suleiman added that the agency’s precautionary measure adopted ahead of the flood have reduced the fatality rate during the flood.##
