Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has appreciated her Principal, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for providing necessary support to hold series of sensitazation meeting with stakeholders of Madagali, Michika, Mubi-North and Mubi-South LGAs on the proposed resolutions of areas of disagreement along the Adamawa State sector of the Nigeria/Cameroon international boundaries.
The meeting held in Mubi for the second time was attended by commissioners, State Surveyor General, traditional rulers, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim Council, women and youth leaders, and representative of all the security agencies and members of State Boundary Committee
The stakeholders raised awareness among members of the committee, the people of the affected border communities among other critical stakeholders for the successful implementation of the proposed diplomatic solution to the border demarcation issues.
Briefing newsmen shortly after the meeting in Mubi, the Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of the proposed adoption of “give and take” agreement by Nigeria and Cameroon in tackling the lingering border demarcation problem, hence their commitment to pursue the course, until the set goal has been achieved for peace, harmony, development and economic prosperity along border areas.
Professor Kaletapwa Farauta saluted Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his tireless support and contributions to the committee on border for effective and efficient service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the District Head of Gude Sali Bello described the stakeholders meeting as a welcome development considering the long history of bilateral ties between the two countries cutting across trades, marriages, among others.
The secretary Mubi South local government area Mustapha Sajo had earlier reiterated commitment and determination to enlighten affected communities for desired goal.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy Iliya James, State Surveyor General, traditional rulers, religious leaders, representatives of all the security agencies, among many others.
