The newly inaugurated President of the Ekklesiyar ‘Yan’Uwa A Nigeria (EYN) and other principal leaders have development plans that, if implemented, will lift the denomination to heights that the world will be unable to ignore.
This came to light at the weekend during the Inauguration Service of the EYN Principal Officers.
The new officers include immediate past General Secretary, Dr Daniel Mbaya, who became the president when the new officials were elected in April and who was inaugurated into the Number 1 office during the Saturday June 1 special service.
The other officers inaugurated along with Dr Mbaya included the Vice President, Rev Nuhu Mutah Abba; General Secretary, Rev Hames K. Musa; and Administrative Secretary, Rev Timta Luka Musa.
In his inaugural speech, the president gave a hint to what the new leadership hopes to achieve when he listed a Brethren university, a teaching hospital, radio and television stations, a football club, and a Widows Ministry.
“We have spoken and made commitment to the establishment of Brethren University,” the EYN president said, recalling that although the university idea had been there even before the coming of the immediate past leadership, the plan could not be actualized.
He appealed to sons and daughters of the church, members of other Christian denominations and Muslim friends to play their part this time to make the university a reality.
Speaking similarly, Dr Mbaya said, “We shall work towards establishing Brethren Teaching Hospital.”
Adding quickly, he said, “We are going to pursue vigorously the establishment of Brethren Radio and Brethren Television.”
The EYN also plans to introduce Brethren Annual Convention when, according to the president, “all EYN members and other brethren would converge for spiritual building.”
He added that a Widows Ministry would be created to cater to women made widows as result of insurgency attacks and other challenges.
Detailing the plan for EYN Football Club, he said, “We shall do all to engage our youths in activities that would not only promote the discovery of talents but grow youths to be great citizens.”
