The Church of the Brethren in Nigeria popularly known as Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN) ,has reiterated its commitment to sports development for growth of the church and the nation at large.
President of the church, Rev. Dr. Daniel Mbaya, asserted, during inter district church council, volleyball championship finals at Kwarhi, headquarters of the church in Hong LGA, over the weekend.
Mbaya, said the championship is aimed at strength growth of peace in Nigeria.
He said 12 DCCs across the federation participated in a 30 matches played in championship 2025, where youths potentials were discovered by bringing them under a common platform.
“The church observed that the best way to tackle restlessness, among youths is to unite them through sporting activities.
The EYN President acknowledged that, the idea of the tournament was conceived by the national executive council of the church aimed at bringing the youths together as future leaders of the church.
The tournament officiated by national officials of the volleyball federation was sponsored by the church to promote envigelism.
The chairman of the occasion and the National President Volleyball Federation Engineer Nimrod Musa represented by Ishaya Wudri commended leadership of EYN for organising the tournament.
The former federal lawmaker, Adamawa North Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo congratulated the church for the visionary leadership and called on other churches and other religious bodies to promote sports .

Rev James Musa expressed satisfaction with the success of the event, stating that the leadership of the church is committed to it’s vision and mission in moving the church to greater heights.

urged participants to allow holy spirit take the lead in their lives as church is bringing youths closer to the church.
The Royal father of the day Mbege Ka Michika, Professor Bulus Gadiga lauded the championship, adding that ,the event is a symbol of love and unity for the church.
The final saw Jimeta DCC got first position, after defeating Maiduguri DCC in the finals, placing Maiduguri DCC at the second position while Yola DCC went home with position third.
The championship produced Haruna Bulus the best seater, Victor Yusuf best server, Ediface Yusuf best blocker, Victor Yusuf best spiker and Balasimi Nyada went home as the most valuable player of the tournament.
The matches was officiated by referee Mohammed Mohammad, Anthonia Yohana, Emmanuel Zamani, Vero Everest and Kingdiyom Krenews from the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF).
Highlights of the event was presentation of trophies, medals and awards to players who distinguished themselves and other dignities who attended the finals..
