Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has urged President Ahmad Tinubu to desilt Rivers Benue to tackle perennial flooding and boost economic ties between Nigeria and Cameroon
Speaking in Yola when she received a delegation led by Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Sanitation and Hygiene Mr. Richard Pheelangwah in her office, decried blockage of water beds, which could have revamped Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state
Farauta further noted that, the state has enough volumes of water when conserved, would boost agricultural activities.
“Adamawa is an agrarian state, its waters could be useful for agriculture.
“Desilting of our rivers, would contributes to agricultural production”.
She solicited for proactive policies and programs that will benefit the state in addressing flooding.
Earlier, Pheelangwah said experts in the water sector, would attend the 2024 water conference holding in the state to address all issues around the use of water and it’s conservation.
