Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has commended NEMA’s proactive initiatives and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting National Emergency Preparedness and Response efforts.
Farauta spoke when she received a delegation from the the agency’s office Abuja , led by the Team Leader of the 2025 National Preparedness Response Committee (NPRC), Mal. Abbani Imam Garki, on courtesy visit to her office.
She assured that the advocacy knowledge would be stepped down to flood prone communities, through the state Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA),
According to her, government has prioritised infrastructural development for generation yet unborn to benefit, adding that mechanism has been put in place to safeguard from destruction.
The Deputy Governor commended the agency’s continued interventions in Adamawa, particularly during disaster situations.
She noted that the government remains proactive in flood prediction and has been engaging with communities to ensure proper preparedness and protection.
She however, urged National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) to provide drought-resistant crops for local farmers to tackle climate change.
Earlier, NEMA’s, Team Leader of the 2025 National Preparedness Response Committee (NPRC), Mal. Abbani Imam Garki said the visit is aimed at formally engaging the state government on the objectives of the 2025 NPRC exercise and fostering collaboration between NEMA and the Adamawa State Government in strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response mechanisms.
Garki emphasized the critical role of state-level partnership in achieving effective disaster risk reduction and resilience.
He lauded government transformation, especially in the area of infrastructural development.
