As Christians all over the world celebrate Easter marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, faithful have been charged to repent from their sinful nature and reflect on the suffering of Jesus Christ who paid the supreme price on the cross of Calvary for the salvation of mankind.
Reverand Dr Bayo Tella Mshelia of the church of Brethren in Nigeria E.Y.N LCC No. 1 Vunoklang, Girei local Government Area of Adamawa state made the charge in his sermon during the Easter service at the church.
Taking scriptural reading from Matthew 28:1-15, the Reverend said the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ has brought hope, salvation, freedom and forgiveness to mankind, admonishing individuals to embrace and follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ by being brother’s keeper.
While tracing the story of the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the Bible, the clergy recalled how the heavy stone and security were placed at Jesus grave, but death could not hold him as He rose again.
Reverend Bayo Mshelia tasked the congregation to wake up from their slumber and rededicate themselves to the work of their God.
He maintained that by committing themselves to the service of their creator, they shall receive their reward in heaven.
Presentations of songs of praise and worship from various subgroups in the church also featured.
