Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has asked youths and women to be in the vanguard of development as better nation builders in all the areas of life that they may find themselves
Speaking at a political stakeholders seminar and interaction held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House Yola, Saturday, Farauta insisted that women and youths are agents of change by occupying rightful position in the society
“As leaders, we must be focused by making governance close to the people. We have to ensure youths and women occupy their right places in governance,” she said.
She appreciated the inclusivity of the administration which carries women along as Deputy Governor, vice chairpersons across the 21 LGAs, and advisers, among other political positions.
The deputy Governor equally cautioned youths against the abuse of social media, warning that they should be held accountable for any post denigrating peace in the society.
In his remarks, the organizer of the event, Dr Victor Dogo, Principal Special Assistant (PSA) Social Mobization to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri said the event is to showcase and give room for panel discussion of landmark achievements in the state
The program themed ‘The Adamawa Year of Service and the Role of Women and Youth in the Nigeria First Project’ is people’s reaffirmed collective commitment to service, empowerment, and national progress under the Budget of Service Year, a vision anchored in the transformative leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Victor stressed that the gathering is a call to action, hence the need for a defining moment in the state’s journey, led by a visionary who has set a new standard for governance, inclusivity, and service.
He lauded present administration’s vigor which demonstrated true leadership bold policies that corrected past injustices, bridged generational gaps, and united the people of the state under a common purpose.
He stated that the expanded girl-child education, ensuring increased enrollment and access to quality learning, historic leadership breakthroughs, including the first female Deputy Governor of Adamawa and the first female Chief Judge in Northern Nigeria are some good policies in the state
Head of Service Pharmacist Shehu Ardo thanked the organizer of the event for highlighting achievements of government in the social mobilization sector
He added that the program brings social cohesion as women play a vital role in the process of society.
Keynote speaker, Chief Barrister Leonard Nzadon said Nigeria is not impossible to change, especially when we discover good leaders.
He said selfless service in leadership is not about occupying the position but service delivery.
Some political leaders, including Chief Leonard Nzadon, the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Dr. Nyalas Bartholomew, Dr. Aminu Ismaila Numan, Prof. Maunde, and Hon. Kate Mamuno served as panelists during the program.
