The Adamawa state government has warned residents to stop building on waterways and indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages as a strategy to overcome the yearly perennial flooding in the state.
Mr Edgar Amos, Chief of Staff to the governor, gave the warning during inspection sanitation exercise reintroduced in the state
Amos noted that government, would not take it lightly, especially with those erecting structure blocking waterways which divert rain water into people’s house causing outbreak of disease.
He said government has constitutes a mobile court to ensure violators of the exercise are punished according to the law of the state
” Going forward, government would increase level of awareness so that people would understand the importance of clean environment.
“Government had already constituted a mobile court to ensure violators of the exercise are punished”.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Environment, Mohammed Sadiq Mohammed, thanked the state government for the reintroduction the exercise in the state.
Some Commissioners and other top government functionaries attended the exercise to monitor the implementation.
