Adamawa state government at its 22 State Executive Council, approved, upward review of contract sum N243, 660,96 for the electrification of So’o and Mapio communities in Jada local government area of the state.
Mr James Iliya, Commssioner for Information and Strategy, made the disclosure shortly after the SEC meeting presided over the state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta held at Government house Yola, Wednesday.
Iliya said the review became imperative, inview of government determination to complete the project for the benefit of the two communities.
He said the SEC also approved N168, 210 ,310 for solar training programme at the Adamawa State Polytechnic awarded to Premplus Limited
The contract is to ensure development of youths and capacity of staff of the institution.
The council, additionally ratified, N2,780,127,51
administrative approval for scholarship granted by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for sponsorship of 100 indigenous candidate from.Adamawa to study master degrees in Turkey.
Commssioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Umar Garba Pella, explained further that the solar power training is to harness the state energy potentials by becoming lead hub in the North-East, adding that government thought it is wise to strengthen the capacity of the Polytechnic in the solar power training
He said already short term courses have been developed to ensure the institution produced solar power experts.
On the issues of scholarship, Pella, mentioned four discipline to include; Engineering, Architecture, ICT especially artificial intelligence, and medical sciences to benefit from the scholarship.
He added that the sponsorship would avail beneficiaries to global global exposure, as government plan to link them to support college medical sciences at the state University Mubi after their studies.
Meanwhile, the SEC announced that cholera outbreak has claimed 13 lives in Mubi- North and Mubi-South local government areas of Adamawa state
Chief Felix Tangwami, Commssioner for Health and Human Services attributed the outbreak to contaminated source of drinking water in the two local councils
He said the fatality is our of the 236 people infected, adding that 21 people are currently on admission receiving treatment at the federal medical centre and General Hospital Mubi.
According to him 50 health workers, officials from the state Primary Health care Development Agency (PHCDA) have trained as well as case management team activated are on the top of the situation.
The Commssioner, urged people of the area to report new case to nearby health facilities.
He who further revealed the outbreak in Numan assured that government is ensuring sources of water is cleaned as active search case is still ongoing in the area.
