Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has inaugurated a computerized vehicle inspection centre aimed at addressing vehicular safety and environmental concerns.
The centre, first ever in the Northeast sub region, is equipped with facilities designed to assess the roadworthiness of vehicles in a scientific manner, thereby eliminating human error and ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations.
Fintiri who was represented by his Deputy Professor Kaletapha Farauta appreciated Temple SYC Inspection Limited for private partnership support in building the centre.
Accordingly to her, the centre would reduce yearly lost of lives and properties destroyed due to preventable road accidents caused by poor maintenance culture of vehicles.
The Governor, urged commercial drivers, vehicle owners, and transport unions, to utilize the facility to improve road safety on the roads.
Commissioner for Transportation, Wunfe Anthony, described the center as a milestone in innovation, safety, and smart transport governance.
She commended Governor Fintiri for his visionary leadership, which enabled the realization of the project.
Anthony acknowledged ongoing challenges in the transport sector, including road safety, vehicle standards, and commuter security.
She added that the initiative is expected to reduce road accidents, promote environmental sustainability, and enhance data-driven transport planning and policymaking.
The Commissioner revealed plans to establish three additional CVIS centers in Gombi, Mubi, and Ganye.
Earlier, Engineer Jibrin Chindo Chief Operating Officer Drivers and Testing Services (DVTS) who conducted the Deputy Governor around the facilities where break system, emissions testing, lighting system, tyre, axies wheel and supplementary test for vehicles carrying passengers were inspected.
