Adamawa state government has vowed to unlock its agricultural potentials through prompt payment of counterpart funding to development partners.
The state Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta stated this Friday when she received officials from the Livestock Productivity & Resilience Project (L-PRES) in her office
Farauta assured of the sustainability of L-PRES project in the state, which she said had supported the agrarian people of the state.
Farauta noted that L-PRES project is an area the state is having comparative advantage than any other state, hence the commitment of the state government to that direction.
She assured that, government would continue to provide enabling environment to unlock agricultural value chain for its citizenry.
“Our people are out projects and that is why we providing dividend of democracy.
“We would continue to serve our people, till the last day we are in office, especially in the area of agriculture”.
She added that livestock is vital to the state and the nation’s economy, poverty alleviation and employment commending L-PRES for their interventions thus far.
Sanusi Abubakar, National Project Coordinator who led a mission team to monitor L-PRES projects, announced setting up the veterinary hospital in the state
Abubakar said hospital would provides animal diagnosis, care, medication,
breeding, research on nutrition, and product development of animals in the state
The facilitation of the approval was led by Senator Abubakar Kyari who also chairs the national L-PRESS steering committee aimed to improve food security.
The National Project Coordinator, further stated that the National Coordinating Office (NCO) and representative the federal ministry of agriculture and food security had delivered 770,000 doses of Anthrax spore vaccine for the state, adding that the state is so far leading among the five benefit state that had access the World bank funds.
Mr Maniel Sene, Task Team Lead, World Bank, stated that the project was smoothly implemented, following payment of counterpart funding by the state.
According to him, the mission team would be visiting diary farm clusters, abattoir, slaughter slabs, farmer field schools and newly renovated L-PRESS office in the state.
Mr Tijjani Maksha, Commissioner for Livestock described livestock production as road map to economic development of the state.##
